I’m listening to tiny golden grasses
with seed plume eyes and brittle arms
huddled in clumps across the desert floor,
aglow in the light of dawn.

How bravely they fight for their lives
against strong winds and blazing sun
digging a single root down into the earth,
holding tight to what grounds them.

Life blows its wind on us,
beats down like hot desert sun.
We can become callous,
in danger of being uprooted.

Be like the golden grass warriors
deeply held by the soil of your Source
Unmovable against the strongest wind.
